SYNOPSIS
Extimité is a short dramatic film about memory, identity, and the private emotional spaces that remain when the facts of a life begin to disappear.
Beginning its festival run, Extimité is a character-driven short film from writer/director Zac Counts. The film uses a spare, intimate visual style to explore the emotional instability of memory and the ways love can remain present, even when recognition begins to fade.
The title, Extimité, refers to the strange space between what is most private and what exists outside of us.
Crafting the Story
Extimité was created over the course of three shooting days in Northwest Arkansas. Two of those days were filmed with a skeleton crew, keeping the production small, intimate, and focused around performance. The film was shot entirely in Northwest Arkansas on the Canon EOS R5 Mark II.
Meet The Creatives
Scott Doss
As Roy
Arkansas native with extensive theater experience, Scott has degrees from the University of Arkansas. His screen work includes Forest Through the Trees and Dirty Halos. Extimité gives Roy his most emotionally vulnerable role.
Juli Tapken
As June
An award-winning actress with more than 40 IMDb credits, Juli Tapken brings extensive film, television, theater, and music experience. Her work includes Nashville and Homicide Hunter.
Zac Counts
Writer, director, & Producer
Zac Counts, a Fayetteville Arkansas picture maker, studied under Neal Harrington and Tom Huck while earning his Design degree. After years in advertising, he began directing in 2020. “Dirty Halos” is his 4th short film.
Harrison Jones
Director of Photography
Harrison, an engineer-turned-filmmaker, shot the film in one day. He wrote, directed and produced the award-winning Helldivers fan film “Memorial” (2024). He creates YouTube shorts, showcasing his developing filmmaking skills.
Jewell Regan
1st Assistant director
Arkansas filmmaker Jewell Regan directed “The Gold” in 2023. A University of Arkansas graduate, she’s worked as assistant director on “Untitled” and “70X7.” Her organizational skills kept production running smoothly.
August Noel
Production Designer
August Noel has worked on multiple films as an actor, PA, art PA, and art department assistant. Extimité marks her first short film as production designer.
