Overview
Memorial, a fan film inspired by the world of Helldivers 2, was a passion project directed by Harrison Jones. The short film aimed to capture the gritty, high-stakes atmosphere of the game while telling a compelling, character-driven story. To bring this vision to life, our team was responsible for executing the VFX, which involved extensive background removal and replacement, as well as providing art direction to ensure the film’s aesthetics stayed true to the Helldivers universe.
Visual Effects
The project required the removal and replacement of backgrounds in several key scenes to create the stark, alien environments that define the Helldivers universe. Using advanced compositing techniques, we seamlessly integrated new backgrounds that matched the lighting, color, and tone of the original footage, maintaining the film’s immersive quality.
Art Direction
We hand-painted key props, including helmets and pipes, to achieve a battle-worn, gritty look that reflected the harsh realities of the Helldivers world. Each prop was meticulously designed to look authentic and functional, adding to the overall realism of the film. The attention to detail in the props ensured they felt like a natural part of the environment, enhancing the visual storytelling.
